MEET THE PANELISTS

Rofhiwa Madzena
Award Winning Journalist, Business News Anchor and Producer, ENCA (Moderator)Rofhiwa Madzena, a Wits University graduate with a BA in International Relations and Media Studies and an Honours degree in Journalism and Media Studies, has over six years of experience in broadcast and print journalism. She began her career in radio as a reporter before advancing to on-air producer for news and current affairs. In 2015, she joined CNBC Africa, where she honed her skills in online writing, live show production, magazine show production, presenting, and reporting. Her impactful work was recognized in 2016 when she became an AidEx finalist for the Humanitarian and Development Journalism Award, based on an article about refugees for Forbes Woman Africa.
With aspirations to work globally and foster positive change, Rofhiwa is pursuing a master’s degree in international relations and economics. Her expertise includes team management, organizational skills, writing, social media, digital content, and production, positioning her as a versatile and impactful professional in her field.

Annatjie van Rooyen
CEO of MyWealth InvestmentsAnnatjie van Rooyen, BCom (Hons), Membership exams of the SA Institute of Stockbrokers and Safex. Annatjie has more than 20 years of investment experience and was previously a director of Standard Equities and Head of Dealing at BoE Stockbrokers. Annatjie also managed the BoE Alpha Fund, a long/short equity fund that was nominated in 2007 in the category of Top New Funds. Annatjie is currently the CEO of MyWealth Investments.

Lullu Krugel
Partner and Chief Economist, PWCLullu Krugel has 18 years of experience in the economic consulting environment. She is currently a Partner and Director at PwC in Johannesburg, where she leads a team of 15 client-facing economists. Her expertise spans regulatory economics and regulatory impact assessments, economic impact assessments, socio-economic impact assessments, market entry studies, cost-benefit analysis, IFRS9 forward-looking audit support, and competition economics.

Lara Hodes
Economist, INVESTECAfter graduating from the University of Cape Town many years ago I began my career at Investec Bank Cape Town as an investment consultant, advising clients on optimal portfolio allocation. I then moved to the institutional stockbroking area, Investec Securities, where I worked for over 7 years, analysing predominantly consumer related industries. Subsequently, I worked as a research analyst in the private equity space and at an international management consultancy where I was responsible for Africa specific research. I returned to Investec at the beginning of 2018 in my current position as a senior Economist.

Kearabilwe Nonvana
Head, SCOPE PRIME AFRICAAfter graduating Kearabilwe began his career at JP Morgan on the Equity derivatives trading desk as an Equity derivatives sales trader. Kearabilwe Joined IG Markets South Africa as an Equity and Derivatives sales trader where he was exposed to global Derivatives markets and excelled as a stock picker and investment idea generator. He later joined ThinkMarkets South Africa as Manager of Equity and Derivative sales trading and also was the Head of Equity research fulfilling both functions concurrently. He then Joined EA Capital and led the global markets function across multi asset sales and trading. Currently he is the Head of Scope for Prime Africa.

Odwa Magwentshu

Elize Kruger
Independent Economist CARPEDIEMElize Kruger is an independent economic consultant with 30 years’ experience in both macro and microeconomics. She has worked and excelled in the stockbroking industry as well as in the health, financial and energy sectors. Currently, she is providing research services mainly to SLG, BankservAfrica and Ctrack. Prior clients include NKC African Economics, KADD Capital, Vunani Securities, Nodus Capital and Synntech Consulting Engineers among others. Elize has been the winner of the Bureau of Market Research Economist of the Year competition in 2023 (runner-up in 2022).
